Frodin Butterfly Series
Frodin Mikkeli Butterfly Series
The Classic Alta fly, got its name after Mikael and Håkan Norling’s memorable days on the magic Alta beat. A super fly for dusk and dark. The blue/purple colours stay longest when the light disappears. The fat soft swimming silhouette makes it a must under the summer moonlight. The midnight fly of all, Mikael’s boxes are always full of them. Samurais for the fast fished fly and Butterflies for the slower water. One of our coolest patterns!
Frodin Fiery Brown Butterfly Series
This new favourite of ours originates from the old classics. Mallard feathers are some of Mikael's favourite feathers. Her wound as a hackle in front of the translucent butterfly hackle it creates a very special appearance. We prefer to fish this in slow water on a cloudy day under conditions with a bit of colour to the water. It will almost disappear and can fool the most difficult fish. A great discreet fly that has given us many good salmon but also some huge seatrout.
Frodin Kraken Butterfly Series
Kraken is black, mean and the king of the night. With its phosphorescent details and pitch-black sweeping hackles it’s one of our very best night flies both for salmon and big seatrout. At night fish move closer to the bank where they can rest in slower water, here Kraken Butterfly is a real killer. Try it, be amazed and maybe like us you will have a new favourite night fly.
Frodin Pahtakorva Butterfly Series
A new version on Mikael’s most well-known pattern. A pattern that has taken tens of thousands of salmon. We fish it gladly and often. A standard fly which works everywhere, it might be best in tea coloured water. Every year this fantastic pattern gives us some of our best fish, no matter where we go it simply works. This Butterfly version is our choice on slower pools where the fish are extra tricky.
Frodin Sillen Butterfly Series
This is a favourite sunshine fly. When the river is turns blue it’s unbeatable, but it’s also great in crystal clear rivers. When fresh fish stop in shallow water on a clear day – this is our best weapon. To make the fly blend in is important especially on the clear day in clear water. The Butterfly version is absolute superb swimmer with a translucency that beats everything – when you fish this little shiny fly you want the sun to shine from a clear blue sky.
Frodin Willie Gunn Butterfly Series
Frodin Lion Butterfly Series
The Lion Butterfly is a rather discrete fly in the deadly lion yellow colours. A great mowing fly, translucent with the important characteristics from the fish’s point of view. We like this mobile design and fish this new pattern on slightly coloured to clear waters. The Lion likes the sun with a bit of humus to give which gives it shade to blend into. This is a new exciting favourite of ours – hopefully it will be Yours too!
Frodin InFlames Butterfly Series
This is our newest innovative series of soft moving translucent salmon and sea trout flies. The focus is on the movement from the fish’s perspective. No-hackle body, brushed Glitz dubbing, a flat ostrich feather over and a thin wing – all together gives a very specific fly design. The Butterfly is a fly design and new series that we think will conquer the salmon world. For the smooth soft glide or the deep slower part where the biggest fish holds its territory. Swing a Butterfly and be prepared for the take!
Frodin Greenlander Butterfly Series
A pattern that been with us for a long time. A crossbreed between the classic Green Highlander and The Silver Grey. This is a sunshine fly that likes the green tinted water. A fly which translucent appearance and clear water colours makes it a must in the box. The greenish ostrich fibres will let the sun through and tempt even the trickiest sunshine salmon.
Frodin Black and Silver Butterfly Series
A real all-round fly. Sparkling silver against black gives the best contrast. If you don’t know what to pick? Choose a black fly! This is one of Mikael’s absolute favourites for clear water cloudy days, or in the dawn or dusk wherever you fish. The Black & Silver has saved many fishing days. The soft sweeping lively hackles will suit the slower water and the holding fish. Also, a superb fly for the search for the world’s biggest sea trout in the dusk.
