Fly Fishing Gear
Fario Fly - Half Hog Bibio
Fario Fly - Yellow Owl
Often regarded as thee best stillwater dry fly in the UK and certainly one of the most popular the Yellow Owl is a shuttlecock style CDC. This fly was originally invented on the famous Loch Leven where it was used to catch buzzer feeding fish off the surface. The black rib over the light cahill thread gives the impression of a segmented body which fish are very attracted to. If fish are taking dry flies on the surface and you have any doubt as to which pattern to choose - the Yellow Owl is always a great starting point. Fished singularly - it is a fantastic emerger pattern for targeting cruising fish.

The Sun Ray Shadow although simple is extremely exciting to fish. It can be used to locate and stir fish from their lies often with exciting results as the fish chase on the surface. Wing cm 4 6 9 12 15 Tube inches .5 1 1.25 1.5 2

Fario Fly - Original Double Decker
The Double Decker was originally born as a comparadun style fly for river fishing and catching rising fish in shallow and fast water. The profile of the fly ensures that the deer hair wing is highly visible yet the deer hair body and coq de leon tail is sumberged- giving the profile of a hatching fly. Not only is this fly highly effective for river fishing but is now very popular on the stillwater scene. This is due to the "hatching" profile when the fly is laid flat on the water. It is a great immitation for hatching buzzers. This pattern is a fantastic imitation during a Mayfly hatch.
Fario Fly - Olive Shuttlecock CDC
The main food source of trout are buzzers/chronomids. When buzzers ascend from the lake bed to the water surface before hatching they almost always find themselves stuck in the surface film. During this time they are very vulnerable to feeding fish and often trout gorge themselves on such easy pickings. This minimalist representation of the black buzzer performs perfectly in such conditions and is often fished best singularly to rising or cruising fish. This fly has generous amounts of wild CDC in the wing which will ensure both great float-ability and visibility. The body is varnished and finished with a flex-floss rib to give a natural looking segmentation which ensures the surface film is cut and the fly is cocked.
Atlantic Flies Black and Yellow PBP Tube
Black and Yellow Micro Tube when conditions require stealth and light tackle. Use these with a light leader so the fly can move in the water.

Fario Fly - Grunter
The Grunter has a somewhat unconventional design and is a rather strange looking dry fly, however it is absolutely lethal when used in certain situations. In particular this is a great fly to use in March when searching out early season Brown Trout on the river or when fishing a sedge hatch during the summer on the lochs and lakes around the UK. It also works great as a dry fly when used in "rougher water" when smaller more subtle patterns won't stand out.

Fario Fly - Super Sedge Hog Olive
Super Sedgehoge Olive Not only is this pattern highly effective for river fishing but is now very popular on the stillwater scene. This is also a fantastic fly to use in a sedge hatch.
