Guideline NT11 DH Fly Rod

NT11 fly rods are the result of taking advantage of the very latest and most sophisticated SOA (State of Art) graphite materials used in the aerospace industry today. When applied to and used in flyrods, some remarkable benefits are achieved. The most evident effect being an amazing recovery power and crispness in the blanks, created by combining the incredible armoring and strength increasing effects of T1100G graphite with layers of the highest modulus graphite we’ve ever used in any flyrods to date. For you as an angler, the above properties are built into a series of rods that have the lowest blank weight, yet the highest break strain of any other rod in our line up and probably also on the entire flyrod market.

Guideline LPX Chrome 6pc DH Fly Rod

LPX Chrome fly rods are designed and built with a brand-new Guideline rod action. They have a ¾ deep load and power that kicks in earlier in the cast without sacrificing the speed in the rods. They have a lightness, stability and responsiveness that connect you with the cast in a totally new way. LPX Chrome 6pc are travel friendly fly rods perfect for hunting large seatrout, salmon, or steelhead. The 6-piece rods have a slightly faster action than the 4-piece models. A Premium rod stacked full of features, rarely seen at these prices.   The secret behind the distinct rod action is our C.A.P M4.0™ technology, an advanced carbon layup that creates a unique rod flex, that has it all. The action is best described as medium fast, progressive with fast recovery. The tip section has great stability for setting sharpen loops and the power to lift heavy sinking lines. During casting you easily get connected to the lower parts of the rod which delivers a remarkable kick/catapult effect in the stop, this lets you deliver long casts with hardly any power. The unique side-stability in LPX Chrome make the fly line follow the rod extremely well when you swing and rotate the rod during the cast. Leading to more precise casting, higher line speed and cleaner loops. A truly new action that will set the standard for our future fly rods. 12’6 #7/8 6pc – is an increasingly popular model. Great for small to medium sized rivers like in Iceland.  Ultra-light rod with superb stability and response that will keep you going for hours with ease.   12’9 #8/9 6pc - This rod works in a wide variety of rivers from small to medium sized. Perfect for those summer days with medium to low water fishing. A rod that truly connects you with the cast in a totally new way. One of our favourites!   13’9 #9/10 6pc – If you want ONE rod to cover it all – this is it. Light weight and a crisp, medium fast flex with lots of power. Designed to handle any casting style and everything from sinking to floating lines using larger flies.   14’9 #10/11 6pc – is the perfect tool for early spring fishing when the rivers are cold and high, using large flies and heavy sinking lines. But still, you have an incredibly light, stable and responsive fly rod. Our favourite for early season salmon fishing in Norway and Sweden.

Elevation Rods utilises the very latest in material and pattern technology, as well as featuring several more environmentally friendly components, these rods are revolutionary. We have now started the journey towards more sustainable products at Guideline and this Rod series will show the way for future rod production. We have worked hard and into the details to do whatever is possible to make these rods the best choice for those anglers who care about the environment. The new rod blank development process eliminates any unnecessary material in each section. It also gives us the possibility to monitor power in every part of the blank much more accurately than before. These rods are extremely light and responsive (9’ #5 is 72g / 2,53oz), and yet the strongest standard rods we have created. In general the rods have a sensitive and protective tip that is very stable and crisp, with a smooth progressive curve further down the blank with a powerful butt section. The action is easy to cast, forgiving and produce accurate casts at high line speed. The rods have great line feel and you will easily connect to the rod to all types of casts. Summed up these are top modern rods with light feel and an action that suits anglers at all levels.

THE MORE ECO FRIENDLY DETAILS

  • Matte, lightly buffed blanks with no added coloration which gives them a dark graphite grey appearance. Any possible, excessive carbon waste particles are collected in separate tank before water is passed on to community cleaning facility. The blanks have a soft spiral pattern and thin, matte coating.
  • 3A cork grips without rubber cork reinforcements. This reduces the levels of epoxy-resins needed in the grips.
  • Metal parts of reel seats are “clear anodized” which is the least toxic process possible when using aluminium reel seats. We use no chrome (lead) or paint in the anodizing bath.
  • For the coatings on blank, guides and the mounting glue for grips and reel seat, we use a bio based low-toxic Epoxy, tested and approved with extremely low levels of regulated chemicals. This also adds to a better working atmosphere in the assembly phase of production, reducing health hazardous odours to a minimum.
  • Rods are mounted with light wire single leg guides and KW style stripper guides. We use a gun smoke powder coat finish on a stainless frame. Best sustainable choice, still hard and with no chrome plating, which contains lead.
  • Rod bag and rod tube cover are made of recycled REPREVE™ polyester.
  • The rod tubes are made of recyclable Polypropylene (PP), they are lighter and have 20% lower diameters than standard PVC tubes. This will save space and money when rods are transported both from the factory and by the user. Given its durability and the possibility to melt and reform into plastic pellets, PP is both reusable and recyclable for producing new goods.
  • All rods are 4-piece.

Guideline Stoked Switch Fly Rod

Two new 4-piece Switch rods designed and rated with US Switch weight standards in mind. This means they should be loaded with the same weights as normally used on Scandinavian Double hand rods. Stoked Switch rods are well-balanced, easy-to-cast and have medium fast actions with a forgiving curve that absorbs beginner errors in the casting stroke. The action is well suited for both Scandi- and Skagit style casting and has a tolerance for a large weight-span in lines to accommodate preferences for both styles.   The length of these rods makes them easy to manage and possible to use as a single hander if you feel the need for that in special situations. They are very well suited for fishing in small- to medium-sized rivers. Because of the line rating, these are powerful rods that manage wind, rather large and heavy flies, as well as a great variety of line types and densities without worries. Both models feature up-locking reel seats and have carefully designed grips with a 265 mm foregrip and 90 mm rear grip. Like all other Stoked 2021 models, these also will feature new and further updated Eco-friendly components.

Double Handed Fly Rods: Power and Performance for Speycasting and Salmon Fishing in the UK

Fly fishing with a double handed fly rod is a demanding and rewarding discipline, perfect for speycasting when targeting powerful fish like salmon. Here at Fin & Game, our selection of double handed fly rods offer the perfect tools for the job, whether you’re looking to tackle the big four Scottish rivers, or require a lovely light switch rod for smaller streams and low summer conditions. So if you’re an experienced angler or just starting out in the exciting world of fly fishing, let us help you find the rod to suit you best.

We stock a wide range of double handed fly rods from top brands like Frodin, Guideline, Mackenzie, Orvis and Sage. Our knowledgeable staff can help you find the right fly rod for your needs, taking into account factors like the size of the river you’ll be fishing, the species you’re targeting, and your casting style.

Understanding Double-Handed Fly Rods:

Here are some of the key features to consider when choosing a double-handed fly rod:

  • Length: Double-handed fly rods typically range in length from 12 to 16 feet, with longer rods offering more power for casting heavier lines and larger flies.
  • Line Weight: The fly line weight of a rod indicates the weight of the line it is designed to cast. Heavier lines are better for larger flies and the more challenging conditions of spring and late autumn, while lighter double handed rods and switch rods are ideal for use in the warmer months when a more delicate presentation is key.
  • Action: The action of a fly rod refers to how it bends when casting and fighting fish. A faster action rod bends more in the tip than the full length of the rod, while a slower action rod bends more throughout the blank. Faster action rods can offer more power in the right hands, while slower action rods offer more feel and control when playing fish.

In addition to double handed fly rods, we also stock a wide range of single handed fly rods, fly reels, fly lines, flies and clothing to meet all your salmon and fly fishing needs.
