RIO Elite Permit Fly Line

RIO’s Elite Permit line features an easy casting taper that loads at close range, and a long back taper for fast, 2nd shot casts. The front taper and weight distribution is designed to give soft presentations so as not to spook wary Perms, while maintaining enough weight to easily cast typical crab patterns. Each line is built on RIO’s low-memory DirectCore that is extremely easy to stretch and lies perfectly straight on the water, yet retains the stiffness needed to cast in hot conditions. In addition, this line is built with SlickCast, creating the slickest, most durable coating on the market—producing the least amount of friction ever measured in a fly line.

  • Easy casting taper that presents typical crab patterns gently
  • Long back taper for fast, 2nd shot casts
  • Low stretch “DirectCore” for hard, solid strip sets
  • Built with RIO's exceptionally slick, durable SlickCast coating
  • SureFire tricolored measuring system for increased accuracy and distance control

That’s why here at Fin & Game we’re proud to offer a vast range of this leading manufacturer’s products. RIO Fly Lines: A Legacy of Innovation and Performance

Founded in 1990 by passionate anglers, RIO Fly Lines boasts a rich history driven by a relentless pursuit of innovation. Their commitment to research and development ensures each fly line is meticulously designed and crafted using premium materials and advanced technologies. This dedication translates into fly lines that offer exceptional casting performance, superior presentation and unmatched durability, making them a perfect choice for demanding Scottish rivers and lochs, and beyond.

Engineered for  Success: Beyond the Average Fly Line

RIO Fly Lines are specifically designed to excel in a huge range of situations, mirroring the specific challenges to be found around the world. For example, RIO’s Scandi Outbound series has been designed specifically with the UK’s salmon and sea trout anglers in mind. And on the trout front there is a wide choice of lines to meet the exacting demands of modern UK Stillwater and river anglers alike. Here are some of the features that set RIO lines apart:

  • Understanding Target Species: RIO Fly Lines are meticulously crafted to optimise casting performance for the specific techniques and flies required in any given situation. So whether presenting a size 20 dry fly to spooky, wild trout or casting large, heavy tube flies for spring salmon on a fast sinking Skagit set up, the right fly line for you is here.
  • Material Selection to Suit Conditions: RIO Fly Lines utilise high-quality materials with specific tapers and coatings designed for particular species, climates and conditions. So a line for targeting game fish in warm southern hemisphere saltwater flats will have a completely different make up to a line designed for the cold freshwater of a Scottish salmon river. These essential considerations ensure smooth casting and exceptional line control, allowing for precise presentation even in the most challenging situations.
  • Advanced Technologies for Enhanced Performance: RIO Fly Lines are at the forefront of fly line technology. Features like RIO’s revolutionary SlickCast technology for incredible casting performance at distance, and “InTouch” technologies for unmatched line feel, control and bite detection all contribute to a more successful fishing experience.

A Fly Line for Every Situation and Destination

At Fin & Game, we stock a wide range of RIO Fly Lines to cover all eventualities. For targeting migratory salmon in the rivers, sea trout in the salt or stillwater and river trout anywhere in the UK, or for a trip to Iceland, Patagonia or New Zealand, we’ll have the right line for you:

  • Floating Fly Lines: These are the most versatile lines. In their many variations they can be perfect for presenting dry flies and emergers during hatches, fishing traditional style wets, or swinging salmon flies high in the water during the summer months.
  • Shooting Heads: The development of Shooting Heads in more recent years has revolutionised spey casting and RIO has been at the very heart of it all. Boasting a vast range of Scandi style lines to cover every conceivable aspect of spey casting, RIO continues to lead the way. In terms of quality, innovation and choice, these lines are second to none.
  • Tippets: Choosing the correct tippet to match your fly line, fly and general set up is another key to success. As you’d expect RIO offers a suitably wide range of options.

A Commitment to the Complete Angling Experience

RIO Fly Lines understands that fly fishing is more than just casting a line. That’s why they offer a range of complementary products to enhance your fishing experience:
