With even and smooth foam eyes, soft marabou wings and tied with perfect proportions we are confident that our Booby range cannot be beaten on quality or pattern choice for this style of fly. The Sunburst Candy Man Booby is a firm favourite of competition anglers across the country and has long been a fantastic pattern to use on the Lake of Menteith. This fly is particularly effective during the summer months and additionally is a great late season choice for fry bashing. Fario Fly - Sunburst and Chartreuse FAB
The Foam Arsed Blob flies (or FABs for short) first made an appearance on the competition fly fishing scene around 2008. This fly is almost a hybrid of a Booby and a Blob since the foam tail gives the buoyancy of a Booby and the Fritz body gives the appeal of the devastatingly effective Blob. These flies can be fished successfully on a variety of lines. The unique way in which we tie our FABS here at Fario Fly which sets us above the rest is that we use just the right amount of foam in the tail to ensure that whether you want to use this fly on a floater or a sinker it will do the job. In addition to this the foam tail is cut in half which eliminates the risk of the fly spinning and resulting in a tangled leader. Without a doubt our favourite use for a FAB is to fish the washing line method with either buzzers or nymphs. Love them or loathe them the Blob fly is probably one of the most common and almost certainly most effective patterns used on the competition circuit. These flies work on both small and large waters. The Pink Super Blob version is worth a try if other variations are proving unsuccessful. It is also often useful to consider the size of your Blob fly if you are getting refusals from fussy fish.
