Size One
Our smallest Frodin Salar Wild Salmon Series Fly Reel is designed for delicate conditions, fishing a light line on a single-handed rod. It holds 100 m of our 30 lbs SALAR backing, a shooting line and head, or a WF line up to a seven weight.
Size Two
It’s a true gem – never feeling too big or too small. Suitable for rods ranging from 9 to 13 feet. Hold 150m of Salar backing.
Size Three
This is a true workhorse – a reel that meets the high expectations of any devoted angler chasing big Atlantic salmon or steelhead. We recommend this size for rods ranging from 12 to 15 feet. It’s a large reel, holding 200 m of our 60 lbs SALAR backing.
Size Four
The SALAR WSS Four is built for the big rivers where the largest fish are hooked on big flies under all conditions. Size Four is made for pursuing the biggest fish with larger rods, ranging from 14 to 16 feet, and it holds 300 m of our 80 lbs SALAR backing.

Saving Wild Salmon With The Frodin Salar Wild Salmon Series Fly Reel
The SALAR Wild Salmon Series is an initiative dedicated to saving as many wild salmon as possible by generating funds to combat commercial overfishing. Frödinflies will donate 500,000 SEK (approx. €45,000) to The Baltic Salmon Fund, earmarked for the removal of over 100 salmon traps along the northern Baltic coastline. This is estimated to save thousands of wild salmon. Wild stocks of Baltic salmon have been rapidly declining in recent years, and the quickest way to preserve these fish and increase the number of fish on the spawning grounds is to stop the killing of wild salmon on their journey to the rivers.
Frodin is a small company, and this is a significant step for us as we take responsibility for this sacred species that forms the foundation of everything we do. For us, it’s about recognising our role in nature and taking action where it’s needed most. We hope this initiative sparks a larger, necessary change, encouraging others in the industry to use their resources to secure a future for wild fish ecosystems.

The purpose of The Baltic Salmon Foundation is to promote a long-term sustainable management of wild salmon and trout stocks in the Baltic Sea and its waters.
The foundation’s vision is to regain self-reproducing stocks in the original salmon and trout rivers of the Baltic Sea. Strong stocks provide attractive sport fishing and create the conditions for job opportunities through developed fishing tourism.
