Frodin Black Dog Classic Series

This classic fly is one that Mikael has tied for many collectors and is also one of his personal favourites. The old Master Kelson wrote that it was one of his father’s best flies. Originating from way back, the heron hackle likely contributed to its renown. The black, soft-swimming fly works great as an all-around standard for cloudy days in clear rivers. We have preserved the original colour concept, enhanced it with our SSS synthetics, and transformed it into a soft, modern classic that will swim and outfish the original feather wing.
