dunkeld fly is a scaled-down version of the fully dressed salmon fly. This version of the Dunkeld is used for trout and sea trout. It is a good general pattern and can be taken as a small fish or sedge pattern. It also works well when the trout are feeding on daphnia when it should be fished quite slowly.
A classic pattern that was originally a Salmon fly, can be used in the middle or on the point of a wet fly cast, the bright flashy dressing it very effective when fished on a sunk line through daphnia blooms on the reservoirs in summer, it’s also an excellent Seatrout pattern on rivers or Lochs in peaty water.
