Atlantic Flies UV Hexagon Red Frances – Built to Fish Deep, Built to Trigger

The UV Hexagon Red Francis, tied exclusively by Atlantic Flies, is a bold and aggressive variant of one of Iceland’s most iconic salmon patterns. Featuring an exceptionally heavy hexagon-shaped tungsten head, this fly is engineered to punch through current, sink fast, and stay in the strike zone longer—ideal for deep pools, fast glides, and pressured fish. Its compact prawn-like profile is enhanced with stiff antennae and a UV-reactive red body that flashes in both clear and stained water.

The uniquely faceted hexagonal head not only increases sink rate but also adds a disruptive visual trigger and stabilised tracking for a deadly swing. Best fished on a long leader with a slight upstream cast, the Hexagon Red Frances sinks fast before lifting naturally as tension builds—often provoking takes just as it starts to rise. Originally designed by Peter Deane in the 1960s and named after Frances Hydon, the Frances has become a benchmark for salmon and sea trout success.
