Atlantic Flies Hexagon Black Frances – Stealth and Depth, Refined

The Hexagon Black Frances, tied by Atlantic Flies, is a stripped-back, heavyweight version of one of the most successful salmon patterns ever designed. Built on a short tube with an exceptionally heavy hexagon-shaped tungsten head, this fly is made to reach the riverbed fast—perfect for deep, cold flows or reluctant fish.

With no flash or UV materials, this all-black variant focuses on contrast and silhouette. The stiff feelers and prawn-like body shape create subtle disturbance and lifelike movement, making it highly effective in clear water, overcast conditions, or when salmon are pressured and need a more natural presentation.

Fished best on a long leader and cast slightly upstream, the Frances sinks rapidly before swinging and lifting—often drawing takes the moment it rises off the bottom.
