Fly Fishing Gear
Fario Fly - Olive Mini 5cm Snake
The snake fly is without doubt the "heavy weight" of the trout fly world and this huge fly has the ability to pull fish out of nowhere and big fish too! We have found the Olive version is great in coloured water and works very well for big Brown Trout. Fish this on a variety of line from a floater right down to a fast sinking line. The best retrieves are just as varied as the line choice, where a super slow figure of eight can be just as effective as a fast strip. One thing we have found when using these flies is mixing the retrieve around can bring great results and without a doubt always, always, always hang this fly. The Mini Snakes are easier to cast than their big cousins and when fish are shying from the larger 10cm version the smaller can be absolutely deadly. All of our snake flies are connected with super strong nano braid which is strong enough to hold big fish yet supple enough to enhance the movement of the rabbit zonker strip. You will see what we mean when it is in the water
Fario Fly - Sunburst Diawl Bach
This Diawl Bach pattern we have found to be particularly effective for fishing in stained water thanks to the bright sunburst coloured tail and hackle. This fly is a very good top dropper whilst fishing a team of nymphs. It is also a deadly small water nymph pattern which works well in all conditions.
Fario Fly - Black and Sunburst Diawl Bach
This Diawl Bach pattern we have found to be amazingly successful during buzzer hatches. Sometimes best fished as a team of three this fly has caught the Fario Fly team more over-wintered fish than any other nymph. A very simplistic design with a slim black pheasant tail body (ribbed with black flexi-floss), black tail and hackle finished off with sunburst edge goose biot cheeks. This is a particularly "fishy" fly and one that you should have in your box.
Fario Fly - Bob's Bits Bibio
Bibio is a traditional wet fly that has become a firm favourite whether you are fishing for wild or stocked trout.
Fario Fly - Pink Mini 5cm Snake
The snake fly is without a doubt the "heavy weight" of the trout fly world and this huge fly has the ability to pull fish out of nowhere and big fish too! The pink version we have found to be extremely effective for fresh "stockies" at the start of the season and is excellent for end of season fry feeders. Fish this on a variety of lines from a floater right down to a fast sinking line. The best retrieves are just as varied as the line choice, where a super slow figure of eight can be just as effective as a fast strip. One thing we have found when using these flies is mixing the retrieve around can bring great results and without a doubt always, always, always "hang this fly". All of our snakes flies are connected with super strong nano braid which is strong enough to hold big fish yet supple enough to enhance the movement of the rabbit zonker strip. You will see what we mean when it is in the water
Fario Fly - Olive and Red Holo Diawl Bach
The Olive and Red Holo Diawl Bach is a fly pattern which was born by mistake. This unusual colour combination nymph features the sombre colours of brown and olive running through the body and tail, however, with the addition of the red holographic rib and incorporation of holographic chartreuse cheeks this fly also has some bright target points. This is a particularly good nymph when fishing the washing line method for stocked fish.
Fario Fly - Bob's Bits Red
This very simple pattern is tied to represent an adult buzzer, probably one of the most consistent dry fly patterns used on English reservoirs. It was originally devised by Bob Worts and is one of the most tried and tested patterns. Today the Bob's Bits comes in many guises and it is always worth having a good selection of these in your armory. This version does not have the distinctive white wing often found in other tyings. This is because we have found our version to be particularly effective when also fished wet.
Fario Fly - Bob's Bits Black

Fario Fly - Krystal Hot Head Damsel
This is probably the best selling Damsel there is thanks to it's versatility and consistent ability to catch fish. This popular variation incorporates a gold and silver flash tail which trout find irresistible. Best fished on either a floating or intermediate line this fly can be used with a variety of retrieves from super slow figure of eight to faster strips. Always a solid fly to carry in your box. We have had a lot of success with this fly particularly when fishing for stockies in small waters.
Fario Fly - Unweighteed 10cm Black Snake
A modern pattern with traditional big results. The movement from the snakes is incredible and fish cant resist them.Possibly more big fish get caught on these than any other fly in recent years. They are approx 3-4" long with a stinger hook in the tail.fig of 8, pull like a mad man or roly poly them back, they work all ways!(This patern does not have the bead as pictured)
