Patagonia Danner Wader Boots
PATAGONIA FOOT TRACTOR WADING BOOTS
The Ultimate Fusion of Performance, Durability and Quality
The new Patagonia boot really is an investment of a lifetime for the dedicated angler – lets face it, it needs to be at a retail price of £525.00. But Patagonia set out to design a new wader boot to be as tough as nails and offer a lifetime measured in decades. With this is mind, Danner was the perfect partner with their dedication to quality and years of experience. The result; a wading boot which would offer the ultimate fusion of performance, durability and quality.
What makes them more durable than Patagonias previous line of wading boots?
The stitch down construction of the boots consists of tough interlocking threads that bind the soles to the upper. This creates a wider, more stable foot platform that also helps protect the boot sidewall. Because the boots employ this time-tested construction method, they can be resoled after years and years of hard use.
Patagonia and Danner worked with Vibram, the gold standard in outdoor sole technology, to source the best, most durable rubber for the specific end use requirements of the boots. The Vibram Idrogrip compound on the Foot Tractor is specially formulated for slip resistance on wet rock.
Both new boots feature stout full-grain leather, chosen for its toughness, longevity and ability to mould to the shape of the foot. Unlike some other upper materials, it can also be reconditioned as it ages.
Why the high price tag?
These boots are the culmination of years of hard work, research and development in collaboration with the iconic bootmaker Danner, as well as Vibram, maker of the world’s most high performance soles. The process was essentially a reinvention of the wading boot from the ground up. The result is a handcrafted, made-in-the-USA boot constructed of the finest, most durable materials available—a boot that, after years of hard use, can be resoled and reconditioned by Danner’s union workers in Portland, OR. the combination of durability and repairability make these the last wading boots an angler will ever need to buy.
